Lead Product Designer

  • On-site
    • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands

Job description

Are you passionate about crafting intuitive, emotionally impactful digital experiences? Do you thrive at the intersection of design, brand, and user research—and love turning vision into real-world solutions?

At MatchWornShirt, our mission is to be the world’s leading fan engagement solution. We partner with the biggest sports teams and players worldwide, turning iconic moments on the pitch into unforgettable experiences off it. Whether it’s owning a match-worn shirt, framing it, or reliving the story behind it—we help fans get closer to the game they love.

We’re looking for a Lead Product Designer to take our UX and product design capabilities to the next level. You’ll lead and mentor a small team of a designer and researcher, drive UX strategy across our brands (MatchWornShirt, Frame The Game, Fabricks), and collaborate closely with founders, creatives, and developers to design products that deliver real fan value.

Responsibilities

As Lead Product Designer, you will be responsible for setting and executing our design vision across web, app, and internal tools. This includes collaborating with stakeholders across Product, Technology, Marketing, and Creative, ensuring that every digital touchpoint reflects our brand values and delivers an outstanding user experience.

You’ll also take the lead in building a design system, establishing research and validation practices, and ensuring our design work is both strategic and scalable.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate brand vision into a cohesive, scalable design system.

  • Set a long-term UX strategy in collaboration with product and leadership.

  • Design intuitive and elegant user experiences across our customer-facing platforms and internal admin tools.

  • Work closely with founders, product managers, developers, and marketing teams to align design work with business goals.

  • Lead and coach a team consisting of a UX Researcher and a Product Designer.

  • Apply UX research and testing to inform and validate design decisions.

  • Be actively involved in implementation—providing support and guidance during development phases.

What We Expect From You

  • 5+ years of experience in product design, including team leadership or mentorship.

  • Mastery of Figma

  • Using wireframing and prototyping to quickly iterate on ideas and solutions

  • Knowledge on working with design systems. Think of components, variants, tokens, assets and developer handoff

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills—you’re comfortable presenting to C-level and aligning design with broader business objectives.

  • Hands-on experience with UX research and User Testing.

  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, preferably in a fast-growing environment.

  • Passion for storytelling, branding, and turning emotional experiences into thoughtful design.

  • Full ownership mentality – you take initiative and drive projects to completion.

  • Native or fluent English speaker.

What We Offer

  • Informal and Sporty Environment: An informal, international, and sports-focused work environment.

  • Room for Initiative and Impact: Plenty of room for your ideas and the opportunity to make a real impact.

  • Convenient Location: Free parking and walking distance from a train station at our headquarters.

  • On-Site Gym: Access to a private gym with personal training that you can use anytime.

  • Company events: Multiple times per year we organise formal and not so formal events in our office and elsewhere, which you can later even out in the gym.

Our procedure consists of the following rounds:
